The Wight Foundation provides opportunities for talented students from the Greater Newark, New Jersey vicinity to achieve academic success and personal development in a college preparatory boarding school environment, with the intent to nurture future leaders who socially impact their local communities.
Our application deadline for the 2023/2024 school year has passed. If you will be entering 7th grade in the 2024/2025 academic year, please return in the fall to complete our inquiry form and initiate our process. Students in the 6th grade or lower may complete an inquiry form but will not be eligible to receive an application until their 7th-grade year. In 1986, the Wight Foundation sent five students to boarding schools as the first cohort of Wight Foundation Scholars.
We send our students to boarding schools over the Mid-Atlantic and New England Regions.
